This Access Guide explains where the accessible seats and wheelchair positions are located in the main theatre space at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre, and explains other Access services available in the venue. 

When you log in to atgtickets.com as an Access member, you will find Access seats highlighted or available to you when choosing your tickets, depending on your access requirements. You cannot view or book these seats if you are not an Access member.

Wheelchair positions

Wheelchair positions are located in the Stalls and Circle. These positions have space for your wheelchair up to the sizes specified, with a companion seat next to them. When choosing your tickets, look for seats with a wheelchair icon.

  • Stalls row R 1-2 (Ground floor access. 100cm width x 120cm length)
  • Stalls row R 4-5 (Ground floor access. 100cm width x 120cm length)
  • Stalls row R 7-8 (Ground floor access. 100cm width x 120cm length)
  • Stalls row R 22-23 (Ground floor access. 100cm width x 120cm length)
  • Stalls row R 25-26 (Ground floor access. 100cm width x 120cm length)
  • Stalls row R 28-29 (Ground floor access. 100cm width x 120cm length)
  • Circle 1 row G 22-23 (accessible via lift. 100cm width x 120cm length)
  • Circle 1 row G26-27 (accessible via lift. 100cm width x 120cm length) 

These positions are highlighted in red in the image at the end of this article.

For music concert performances only: Circle 1 Slips E 1-2, Slips E 5-6, Slips J 1-2, Slips J 5-6 and Slips K 2-3 are converted to wheelchair positions, where the Stalls area will be standing. These positions are on Circle 1 level, accessed via the lift. All positions are 110cm width x 175cm in length; please note the lift dimensions.

The lift entrance is in the main foyer. The lift dimensions are 125cm width x 175cm length. The weight limit is 13 people or 1000kg.

Wheelchair access to transfer to a venue seat

Your wheelchair can be placed directly next to these seats so that you can move across. These seats do have armrests, that cannot be raised. When choosing your tickets, look for seats with a wheelchair icon. Your wheelchair will be stored inside the auditorium, near to the nearest exit doors.

If you wish to arrive at the venue using a wheelchair but will walk to your seat, you do not need to choose this ticket type.

  • Stalls R 10
  • Stalls R 20
  • Circle 1 G1-2 (accessible via a lift. Lift dimensions 125cm width x 175cm length) 

These seats are highlighted in pink in the image at the end of this article.

Which level is ground level?

The Stalls are on the ground floor level. Circle 1 and Circle 2 are accessible via a lift. 

Seats with stair-free access or limited stairs required

The Stalls are on the ground floor level. Circle 1 and Circle 2 are accessible via a lift. 

If you require seats with stair-free access (no stairs at all), the following seats are suitable:

  • Stalls Row R
  • Stalls Slips A and B
  • Circle 1 Row G (accessible via a lift)
  • Circle 1 Slips D, E, F, J, and K.

These seats are highlighted in blue in the image at the end of this article. When choosing your tickets, look for seats with an 'A' for access icon.

The following seats are recommended if you are looking for seats with a limited number of stairs required:

  • Stalls row M - 4 steps
  • Stalls row N - 3 steps
  • Stalls row P - 2 steps
  • Stalls row Q - 1 step
  • Stalls row S - 2 steps
  • Stalls row T - 4 steps
  • Circle 1 row E - 4 steps
  • Circle 1 row F - 2 steps
  • Circle 2 row A - 6 steps
  • Circle 2 Slips D - 6 steps
  • Circle 2 Slips E - 6 steps

Please note, Circle1 SLF 1-3 are high, bar stool-style chairs that may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.

Handrails

Circle1 and Circle2 have handrails for all stairs. Stalls level has no handrails.

Partially sighted

We reserve some seats for customers who are partially sighted. These seats vary depending on the show's layout in the venue:

  • When no orchestra pit is in use: Stalls C3-4, Stalls C12-13 and Stalls C22-23
  • When a small orchestra pit is in use: Stalls D3-4, Stalls D13-14 and Stalls D23-24
  • When a large orchestra pit is in use: Stalls F4-5, Stalls F13-14 and Stalls F25-26

These seats are highlighted in yellow in the image at the end of this article. When choosing your tickets, seats are highlighted with an 'A' for access icon.

Hearing assistance

This service is available throughout the venue; you can pick any seat.

We offer Mobile Connect to provide hearing assistance. This is a system that amplifies sound from the stage directly to your smartphone or iPad. It is free and open to everyone to use.

You’ll hear a live audio feed of the performance on stage through your own headphones or a hearing loop, so you can control your own volume.

Any member of staff can assist with using this service. Please ask a member of the team or visit Box Office when you arrive.

Access tickets if you have no specific seating requirements

For disabled customers who have no specific seating requirements and are able to sit in any seats within the theatre, please select any available seat. Your ticket options will appear, including an Access Member ticket type.

Accessible toilets

There are separate gender neutral accessible toilets with change facilities available on all levels of the theatre. All gendered toilets have accessible ambulant cubicles

Toilet facilities

For easiest access to the toilets, the following seats are the best places to sit for easiest access, in each section of the theatre:

Stalls

Toilets are near the entrances to the rear of the Stalls section. Seats in Rows N-U and Slips A & B are recommended as they are closer to the exits.

  • Female Toilets – located by Door 2, book higher seat numbers (15-29) or Slips B.
  • Male Toilets – located by Door 1, book lower seat numbers (1-14) or Slips A.
  • Accessible Toilet – located by Door 1, book lower seat numbers (1-14) or Slips A.

Circle 1

Toilets are near the entrances to the rear of the Circle 1 section. Seats in Rows E-G and Slips D, E & F are recommended as they are closer to the exits.

  • Female Toilets – located by Door 3, book lower seat numbers (1-14) or Slips D, E & F.
  • Male Toilets – located by Door 3, book lower seat numbers (1-14) or Slips D, E & F.
  • Accessible Toilet – located by Door 3, book lower seat numbers (1-14) or Slips D, E & F.

 Circle 2

Toilets are near the entrances to the front of the Circle 2 section. Seats in Rows A-C and Slips A, C & E are recommended as they are closer to the exits.

  • Female Toilets – located by Door 5, book lower seat numbers (1-14) or Slips A & C.
  • Male Toilets – located by Door 6, book higher seat numbers (15-29) or Slips E.
  • Accessible Toilet - located by Door 5, book lower seat numbers (1-14) or Slips A & C.

Location of entrances and exits

There is one main entrance to the venue, which is stair-free, at the front of the building. 

Bringing a bag or medical equipment

The theatre does not have a cloakroom and cannot store large luggage. If you need to bring medical equipment to the venue please contact our Access Champion. We can advise on our safety policies and the most suitable seats. 

Seat sizes

  • Theatre style seats: L44.5cm, W46cm*
  • 'Slip' seats: Stalls SLA & SLB, Circle1 SLE, SLG, SLJ & SLK and Circle2 SLB & SLC: L42.5cm, W47.5cm*
  • Circle1 SLF 1-3 are high, bar stool-style chairs that may not be suitable for those with limited mobility.

All seats have armrests that cannot be raised. All measurements are approximate.

 

Additional legroom

Stalls Row R has a walkway in front, and Stalls Row F has slightly more legroom than other seats. Stalls Slips A & B, Circle 1 Slips E, G and J, and Circle 2 Slips B and C all have loose chairs, that can be moved back or turned to the side to create more legroom for those who need it.

Sunflower Lanyard scheme

We are proud to support the Sunflower Lanyard scheme. Sunflower lanyards are used by patrons who may have an invisible disability, or for patrons who may require some additional support and assistance during their visit. The lanyard works as an indicator for staff to offer appropriate support in a non-intrusive manner. The sunflower lanyards are free to collect from the Box Office.
